Abstract. The relevance of this study lies in the growing demographic problem of higher mortality among Russian men compared to Russian women, the resulting demographic imbalance, which negatively impacts the domestic economy and other areas of Russian society. Therefore, it is necessary to study and evaluate the characteristics and preferences in current health-saving practices among the male population of Russia.
The aim of this study is to conduct a sociological analysis of the characteristics and preferences in health-saving practices among Russian men. The empirical basis of the study consists of two clusters:
- A questionnaire survey of Russian men aged 20 to 80 (N = 300). The age of the respondents is determined by the fact that some men under 20 may be unable to perform their daily activities independently, while after 80, completing the questionnaire may be difficult, making the results obtained in these age groups unrepresentative.
- An expert interview (N = 10), in which the experts included medical specialists, sports trainers, nutritionists, and psychologists.
Conclusion:
- The obtained results highlight the need to radically revise the existing strategy for improving public health, taking into account the modern realities of urban life and the expanding horizons of technological innovation. The goal is to create a society that values health and safety and strives to achieve harmony between individual capabilities and societal expectations.
- It is important for government agencies, local administrations, and public associations to join forces to create an effective infrastructure for prevention and to help citizens lead healthy lifestyles. Only through joint efforts will it be possible to minimize losses associated with premature mortality and disability, improve the demographic situation, and increase overall life expectancy.
