Abstract. Parents’ religious beliefs significantly influence their attitudes toward their children, including those with disabilities. Understanding this influence is critical to developing effective strategies to support families and children. This research article analyzes key aspects of the influence of religious beliefs on attitudes toward children with disabilities, summarizes existing research, and offers recommendations for further research and practical applications.
The article examines the influence of parents’ religious beliefs on their attitudes toward children with disabilities. The introduction substantiates the relevance of the topic, emphasizing the importance of the religious factor in shaping parental perceptions and interactions with the child. The theoretical review examines key concepts such as religious consciousness and perception of disability, and presents the results of previous studies in this area. The methodology includes a description of the sample, methods of data collection and analysis, which allows for an objective assessment of the influence of religious factors.
The empirical section presents the results of the study, showing that parents’ religious beliefs can both facilitate and hinder the acceptance of a child with disabilities. The discussion of the results includes the interpretation of the data obtained, comparison with previously conducted studies and identification of practical recommendations for psychologists and social workers.
