Abstract. This article is devoted to the issues of ethnopolitical conflicts. In any country, conflicts of various kinds (economic, cultural, political, etc.) are based on the nature of an ethnic character. The ethnic component takes place in almost all issues related to the state. In addition. The connection between all types of conflicts necessarily exists. The essence and nature of ethnopolitical conflicts is considered by studying various approaches to the issue from the authors studying this topic, Zdravomyslov A.G., Stepanov E.I., Koroteeva V. and some other authors. The article presents the factors that influence the emergence and development of ethnopolitical conflicts. The article also considers various points of view that can explain the causes and nature of the emergence of a conflict of an ethnic nature. The differences between ethnic and political conflicts are also presented. The corresponding conclusions are made on a brief overview of ethnopolitical conflicts. The main conclusion is that a large number of researchers who analyze the nature of ethnopolitical conflicts seek to adopt the approaches of their Western colleagues in theory and methodology. The basis of ethnopolitical confrontations is the dissatisfaction of growing elite groups with their current position in society and, as a consequence, the desire to redistribute powers in their favor through the initiation and implementation of national movements. At the same time, national movements set themselves the goal of forming a national state of an independent nature. Scientists from the Russian Federation, conducting an analysis of conflicts of an ethnopolitical nature, do not have in their arsenal a sufficient amount of data that is necessary when studying issues related to conflicts of an ethnopolitical nature. But, despite their position, Russian scientists continue to constantly study ethnopolitical conflicts.
