Abstract. In the modern world, where science and technology are developing at an incredible speed, the state and society are increasingly focusing on the innovative and sustainable development of the country and regions. A special role in this process is assigned to the younger generation as a subject of generating innovative ideas.

At the federal level, the main direction of youth involvement in innovative management is being determined, appropriate concepts and strategies have been adopted, and state programs to support youth entrepreneurship and innovation are being implemented. However, in different regions, public authorities identify and promote initiative and talented youth with varying degrees of effectiveness. One of the leaders in the field of science and innovation is the Moscow Region, which has high scientific and technological potential. The author believes that the realization of the innovative potential of young people requires systematic support and purposeful work of the authorities.

The article presents an analysis of the experience of the Moscow region in the formation of an innovative environment. The region has adopted a Strategy for the socio-economic development of the region until 2030, and target programs aimed at achieving the set goals are regularly updated. Innovative infrastructure is being purposefully developed, namely regional infrastructure facilities for the support and development of youth innovations (coworking, innovative creativity centers, children’s technology parks, etc.), business support institutions are being formed, and various forms of involving young people in innovative activities are being used through participation in contests, hackathons, accelerators and grants.
