Foreign mass media and some domestic publications systematically accuse the Russian Federation of waging a \u00abhybrid war\u00bb against a sovereign state \u2014 Ukraine. Moreover, Ukrainian \u00abspecialists\u00bb are working most actively in this vein. In their numerous \u00abscientific\u00bb and journalistic works, they propose to consider this type of active (primarily aggressive) interstate confrontation as exclusively the brainchild of Russian military thought. At the same time, in the same \u00abworks\u00bb, the authors refer to foreign primary sources, without feeling a \u00abcognitive dissonance\u00bb in the argumentation and content of their conclusions. The paradoxical nature of which is obvious \u2014 \u00abRussia, which is militarily and technically backward\u00bb, has been implementing \u00abagainst Ukraine for many years\u00bb, \u00aba new type of military aggression \u2014 hybrid war\u00bb. The analysis of Ukrainian sources allowed the author to trace the terminological and substantive inconsistency of the newly-appeared \u00abspecialists\u00bb in the field of \u00abhybrid\u00bb confrontation. This kind of \u00abresearch\u00bb is replete with historical excursions and emotionally colored precedents characterizing the danger and duration of hybrid confrontation. Deliberate distortion of historical facts, determined by the \u00abexclusivity\u00bb of a certain ethno-social group, leads not only to an inadequate interpretation of them, but also creates the illusion of a qualitative assessment of certain social processes and phenomena. All this creates a new paradigm of socio-cultural relations conditioned by the mental contradictions of \u00abeast-west\u00bb. Where Ukrainians are represented by it as an advanced outpost of the Western world on the border with the Russian Federation.
