The health-saving approach as a factor in preserving the personnel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation: problematic issues

Abstract. The article examines the problems of the physical and mental health of law enforcement officers in the context of their professional longevity and the preservation of the personnel core of the system. On the one hand, police officers are being dismissed en masse due to social factors, on the other — due to the risks and consequences of service for health. The police profession is widely considered one of the most dangerous in the world, and employees are constantly at risk of becoming victims of criminal violence while performing official tasks. In addition, it is possible to identify such major problems that undermine the health of police officers as: stress, psychological trauma, overweight, lack of sleep and rest, improper diet, insufficient knowledge of valeology and lack of motivation to maintain their health. This leads to burnout, an increase in cardiovascular and other diseases among police officers, earlier mortality, and in the case of mental problems, anxiety and even suicidal intentions. Statistical data on the morbidity structure of employees of the internal affairs bodies are provided. According to the author, disease prevention and educational work in the field of health care, the creation of health management programs will contribute to the development of the valeological competence of law enforcement officers and their motivation to be more careful of their physical and mental condition. This will help preserve the professional longevity of the personnel of the internal affairs bodies and thereby solve the problem of personnel shortage.
