Abstract. The problems of qualitative assessment of the behavior of minors have traditionally been in the field of sociological science. Depending on the quality of the lifestyle that a minor leads, his further development as a law-abiding person also depends. Experts from various fields of knowledge have been trying for quite a long time to determine the criteria for such an assessment. Russian criminologists have formulated them at the level of such a specific category as «lifestyle». Viktor Ivanovich Ignatenko, one of the specialists in the field of work with juvenile offenders, created a teen club for minors who demonstrate certain behavioral deviations. In the course of working with this category of minors, he began to record the types and forms of such deviant behavior. As a result, this gave him the basis for the formation of such a socio-criminological category as «antisocial lifestyle». Based on the fact that minors were the object of the study, then the lifestyle was represented by this particular age category. The formulated scientific category was tested empirically during many years of work with minors who demonstrated various kinds of deviant behaviors. The duration of the study allowed us to identify «pain points» that were considered both as causes and as criteria for assessing the antisocial lifestyle of minors. The main thing, according to the researcher, was the process of «deformation» of lifestyle. The qualitative assessment of the minor’s lifestyle depended on the level of such deformity. In a later period of time, the results obtained were extrapolated in relation to minors who had committed crimes and were sent to educational colonies to serve their sentences. Here, the scientist was able to establish a correlation between the lifestyle before the conviction and while serving a prison sentence.
